Y’all, the boxes finally came in and we have been grinning ear to ear unpacking them — fall fabric is officially on the shelves, and it might be the best drop we’ve had all year.
Look What’s In!
We’re talking rich pumpkin-spice oranges, cozy plaids, harvest gold, and a whole run of Halloween prints — black cats, little candy corns, spooky-cute pumpkins, the works. There’s a gorgeous flannel line perfect for a rag quilt if you’ve never tried one, and a batch of blenders in deep autumn tones that’ll make any pieced block look like it belongs on a porch in October. If you’ve had a fall project simmering in the back of your mind since last spring, now’s your excuse to finally cut into it.
We’ve also got a handful of precut fat quarter bundles from this collection already stacked up front, if you’d rather skip the cutting table decisions altogether and just grab a coordinated set ready to sew. They tend to go quick once word gets around the shop, so if you see a bundle that speaks to you, don’t leave it sitting there for next week.
A Quick Tip Before You Cut
Mark my calendar, y’all: darker fall prints — especially those deep reds and blacks — are more prone to bleeding than your average quilting cotton, and nobody wants a ruined block three-quarters of the way through a project. Give new fabric a quick pre-wash, and toss in a color catcher sheet for good measure. Takes five extra minutes and saves you a real heartbreak later.
Come See (and Touch) It Yourself
Photos really don’t do fabric justice — you’ve got to feel it in your hands to know if it’s the one. Come on out to the shop just outside Taft on Bayside Highway 136, grab a cup of coffee, and spend a little time at the cutting table. Whether you’re piecing your first block ever or your five-hundredth, we’d love to help you find exactly what your next project’s asking for. And while you’re here, ask us about our next Sew Day — bring a project, borrow a machine if yours is in the shop, and spend the day surrounded by other quilters instead of stitching alone at your kitchen table.
Hot diggity dog, we cannot wait to see what y’all make with this batch.
