Hot diggity dog, we’re so glad you found us! If this is your first time on our blog, welcome — grab a seat, we’re about to catch you up on everything that makes A Touch of Patience the spot it is.
We’re a quilt shop just outside Taft, out on Bayside Highway 136, and if you haven’t been in yet, here’s the honest truth: our fabric wall changes so often that regulars say walking in feels like Christmas morning. New bolts, new bundles, new kits — if you’re the type who can’t resist a good print, you’re going to have a hard time leaving empty-handed, and that’s exactly how we like it.
But we’re more than a fabric shop. We offer custom piecing and long-arm quilting services for anyone who’s got a top finished (or three) sitting in a closet waiting to become an actual quilt. Whether you need edge-to-edge quilting, something more custom, or just don’t own a long-arm machine yourself, that’s what we’re here for.
We also teach. Classes run throughout the year for every skill level — we’ve done everything from beginner-friendly ornament and table-runner workshops to more advanced ruler classes with certified instructors. If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to learn that but I don’t want to feel silly,” come sit with us. Nobody in this shop was born knowing how to quilt, and nobody here is going to make you feel behind.
And we love an excuse to get together. Sew Days, fat-quarter challenges, seasonal events — quilting’s always been better with company, and our shop was built around that idea as much as around the fabric itself.
If you’re new to quilting, this is a genuinely welcoming place to start. If you’ve been at it for decades, we promise our fabric selection and our long-arm services will still surprise you. Either way, we’d love to meet you in person.
